| Colorectal Surgery Associates was founded in 1991, as a direct outgrowth of the twenty year partnership of Dr. W. Edwin Conner and Dr. John W. Heryer. Shortly after Dr. Heryer's retirement, Dr. Pierre Castera and Dr. Lina O'Brien (the only female colon and rectal surgeon in Kansas City) joined the practice. |

They have extensive experience in colon and rectal surgery for cancer, with special emphasis on sphincter-saving surgery, thus avoiding a colostomy in many cases. Other innovative procedures they do include the pelvic J-pouch for ulcerative colitis, the PPH stapling procedure for internal hemorrhoids, and laparoscopic colon surgery. |
